President of India gives Uttar Pradesh special mention at National Film Awards

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh was given the ‘Special Mention Certificate’ under the”Most Film Friendly State Award’ by President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at the 63rd National Awards ceremony on Wednesday.

PrincipalSecretary (Information)/Chairman Film Bandhu Navneet Sehgal received the award on behalf of the state, from the President, in the presence of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arun Jaitley. It may be pointed out here the award was bestowed upon the state for providing good facilities to film producers in the state.

Among other facilities, the award has been given to the state government with regards to implementing a single-window policy,providing facilities for production and post-production, providing attractive subsidy for film production, dedicated web portal for permission for production of film, online facility for applying, creating a database for crew/filmmakers/film talent and providers of film shooting equipment.The efforts of the state government to create a database of film locations,historical buildings, hotels and ensuring availability of ambulance,air-lifting and emergency services and promoting the state as a better film destination at international level, were also behind this award.

Expressing his gratitude to the Government of India, for the film award, Navneet Sehgal said that the state government, under the able leadership of the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had taken many initiatives to make the state a shooting hub.He furtheradded that it was result of this farsightedness and proactive working of the ChiefMinister that the state has been given the ‘special mention certificate award’.Mr. Sehgal also informed that once the formalities for subsidy are completed aslaid down in the government order, the state offers a maximum of Rs. 3.75 crore as subsidy.

For artists from Uttar Pradesh, special incentive and additional subsidy for film production and post production in the state were also offered. For youngartists to hone their talent, a scholarship has also been arranged for trainingat the FTI Pune and Satyajeet Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. Sehgal also informed that for effective implementation and execution of thefilm producers and for providing necessary facilities, a ‘film promotion andfacilitation committee’ has been formed in all districts of the state under thechairmanship of the district magistrates. This committee, after receiving theproposal for shooting, reviews the security of the film unit, permission forthe shooting site, provides accommodation at the government guest houses/touristbungalows and removes roadblocks, if any, to ensure hassle free shootingexperience.He also informed that under the able guidance and inspiration of the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the Film Bandhu has so far received about 150 proposals for film shoots and subsidy.

After the Film Bandhu was constituted, 25 films have been given subsidy and 15 films will be given subsidy very soon by the chief minister himself.Toencourage film production further in the state, more and more facilities arebeing provided by the state government and suggestions by film producers arealso being implemented.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
