As many as 3157 new Covid-19 cases detected in India on Monday

 India reported 3,157 coronavirus cases on Monday, a decline from 3,324 infections registered yesterday, according to Union Health Ministry. While its active cases rose to 19,500, as per data updated on May 2, 2022.

The death toll climbed to 5,23,869 with 26 new fatalities, according to the data updated by government.

According to the ministry, 0.05 percent of the total infections are active, while the recovery rate for COVID-19 is 98.74 percent.

2,723 recoveries were increased in the last 24 hours with the total recoveries reached to 4,25,38,976.

The daily positivity date is 1.07% whereas the weekly positivity rate is approx 0.70%, according to the data.

As many as 2,95,588 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours make the total tests conducted so far at 83.82 crore.

On May 1, 2022, 3,324 coronavirus infections were reported across the country, raising the case tally to 4,30,79,188. While the number of active cases increased to 19,092, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
