Jaipur Literature Festival announces its annual writing competition
New Delhi: For everyone who loves literature, the highly acclaimed ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival has announced its popular ‘Annual Writing Competition’, which allows winners to blog officially for the festival.
Held in association with Teamwork Arts, in its second year, the Annual Writing Competition offers bloggers and writers a chance to inspire audiences through their words on the festival’s official blog, which receives more than 500,000 hits during the festival.
“Last year’s first ever Annual Writing Competition saw a tremendous response from young writers across India, and from countries as far afield as the US, UK, Canada, Egypt, Singapore Pakistan. This competition demonstrates the festival’s aim to support and promote artistic expression through writing,” said festival producer Sanjoy K. Roy.
The winners are also invited to get under the skin of the festival, which will run from January 21-25, 2016.
The 10 winners of the competition will be offered the opportunity to join the festival as part of its official blogging team.
They also have the chance to meet and learn from over 250 celebrated authors appearing at the event.
Applicants must submit book reviews, short stories, literary articles or creative responses of 1,000 words, or 50 lines of poetry on any of the festival’s past or upcoming authors and their works.
The 2016 event will see an exciting line-up of authors, including Margaret Atwood, Armistead Maupin and Stephen Fry, among many others.
Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.
Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.
CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS
The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.
COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.
The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
