Srivastava, Shanware prop up Vidarbha in KSCA cricket tourney

Bengaluru: A 226-run partnership between Aditya Shanware (94) and Shalab Shrivastava (145) lifted Vidarbha to 311 for six against Karnataka State Cricket Association XI (KSCA) at stumps on the first day of their four-day semi-final match in the KSCA All-India cricket tournament here on Saturday.

In the other semi-final, Haryana were bundled out for 221 despite a century by Rahul Dalal (152b, 13×4, 2×6) while their opponents Dr. DY Patil Academy replied with 104 for five with off-spinner Jayant Yadav claiming all the wickets.

Vidarbha: 311 for 6 in 90 overs (Aditya Shanware 94, Shalab Shrivastava 145, Ravi Jangid 30 not out, Aditya Sarvate 33 not out, S Arvind 2-44) vs KSCA XI.

Haryana: 221 all out in 62.1 overs (Guntash Veer Singh 37, Rahul Dalal 112, Manjeet Chaudhary 4-50, Iqbal Abdullah 2-41) vs Dr. DY Patil Academy: 104 for 5 in 26.5 overs (Kevin Almieda 36, Jayant Yadav 5-26).

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
