LMRC Director examines the progress of Metro ‘priority corridor’

Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), on Friday, accompanied by other directors and senior officers of the organization, inspected the under construction 8.5 km long Metro ‘priority corridor’ from Chargbagh to Transport Nagar.

Starting his inspection from the Charbagh Metro Station, the Managing Director instructed the Chief Project Manager (CPM) for timely completion of civil construction of the Metro stations so that the electrical and mechanical work is also started on time for commissioning of the project by December, 2016.

Stressing on the importance of safety guidelines, he asked the contractors to ensure strict compliance of the same at the sites. “Safety is a priority for this project and LMRC should strive for highest standards in the area,” he emphasized.

Shri Keshav also visited the Depot along the route near Transport Nagar and inspected the progress of the work being carried out there for stabling and commissioning of Metro trains. He also took stock of the construction of LMRC Training School building inside the depot and gave his valuable inputs to the Metro engineers working there. Lucknow Metro is setting up a Training School for imparting training to the Operation & Maintenance (O & M) staff who are presently under the recruitment process being done by the company.

To beat the timeline for availability of trained Operation & Maintenance (O & M) staff required for trials and commissioning, training facilities shall be put in place in another one and a half months and instructions were given by the Managing Director in this regard.

The Managing Director also inspected the track and electrical traction work in progress – both in the depot as well as on the viaduct and instructed the contractors to expedite the work. The work for Transport Nagar depot cum maintenance workshop is slated to be completed by September, 2016 so that the Rolling Stock (Metro Train) arrives here for testing and commissioning before start of the trial runs.Lucknow Metro is committed to complete the 8.5 km priority section from Transport Nagar to Charbagh by December, 2016.
