The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance examination prospectus has confused the students. Students have to gear them up, if they are planning to sit in the MBBS exam of AIIMS as this the centers are allotted on first come and first serve basis. Moreover, the bad news is that this time too Chandigarh is not having any exam center. As per the Prospectus, the exam is scheduled to be held on 29 may.

Mohali the closest centre allotted for the examination. Some other nearest exam centres would be in Punjab includes Ludhiana, Ropar, Sangrur, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Bathinda, Ambala and Patiala is among the other cities. . The AIIMS exam was made online Computer based test (CBT) from last year and even then Chandigarh didn’t have a single centre. The examination is proposed to be conducted in two shifts in different centres all over India. Online registration for the same would begin on February 15 and end on March 15.

Vanshuta Shukla, a XII class student, “Since there is only one centre, I need to register on Monday so that I can get Mohali as a centre because otherwise a lot of time will be wasted in travelling. Till last year, there used to be three options.”

The students are in chaos with prospectus that whether the photograph has to be uploaded with name or date as there is no clarity on this in the prospectus.

Academician Arvind Goyal and PMT trainer said, “The students should keep their photograph, signature and thumb impression ready on their computers as per the specifications so that the form can be filled as soon as the online registrations start. This will help the candidate to get a centre of their choice.”

“During the exam, the candidate must avoid any guess work as the negative marking in AIIMS entrance exam is one third, which can bring down the score significantly in case of too many wrong answers. The prospectus says that in case of any discrepancy in the questions, the student should inform dean within 24 hours. But how can we expect the student to raise the exact objections when the question paper is not available to him in any format? For the benefit of students, AIIMS should make a policy regarding objections to be filed transparent just like CBSE and AIPMT,” he added.

The expected date for the declaration of AIIMS result is 14 june.
