Lucknow:In winter months, cold, dry air can tighten airways and worsen breathing.Air is cold and dry, and  people have more sinus and upper respiratory infections, either of which can trigger or worsen asthma attacks.

Here are  things you can do  To keep a handle on asthma attacks:-

 

1-Wash your hands:Washing your hands  with soap and water is one of simplest and best ways to avoid spreading or catching colds and other viruses.

2-Get a flu shot:Most peoplewho are  6 months and older can get an annual flu shot to help protect against the flu virus. Having asthma won’t make you more susceptible, but if you do get the flu, the results could be more serious.

3-Cover your mouth :Pull a neck gaiter, scarf or turtleneck up over your mouth and nose to warm the air you’re inhaling.

4-Avoid sitting near fireplaces:Burning wood can trigger your asthma smoke can irritate your lungs.

5-Replace filters of heating systems at home :Clean and check the filters periodically throughout the heating season to avoid issues with winter asthma. Also, try to keep the temperature and humidity levels in your home consistent.

6-Avoid going out early morning :It is recommended to excercise indoor instead of going out very early in cold morning .

7-Prevention is better than cure:Take a preventive dose of your asthma medicine before heading outside, whether to exercise, walk the dog, or run errands.

8-Always take medicine on time :It’s important to follow your treatment plan regardless of the time of year. Don’t let a busy work or social schedule cause you to ignore your health.

9-Maintain hygiene:Wash your all warm clothes in hot water above 130 degree once every 15 days .

 10-Do not stress:Be aware that stress can lead to asthma attacks. Chemicals released by the body during stressful times can cause the muscles around your airways to tighten, making it difficult to breathe.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.

on an average 500 persons used to succumb everyday in the peak of Covid infection, as per the data. Health experts said that the mutated Coronavirus is losing its fierce characteristics as vaccination, better treatment facilities and awareness among the people have contributed to the lesser number of Covid deaths.

During the 4th and 6th of April two deaths were reported in Bengaluru, one in Gadag district on April 8, two deaths were reported from Belagavi and Vijayapura on April 30. The first Covid case was reported in the state in March 2020 and three Covid deaths were recorded in the month.
