Dortmund: Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has extended his current contract with the German football club until 2020 ahead of schedule.

The Gabon international ended all speculation regarding an upcoming transfer as he on Friday put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension that keeps him at Dortmund until June 2020. His original contract was stipulated until June 2018, Xinhua reported on Saturday.

“Pierre-Emerick has developed excellently. We are very glad that we were able to bind him on a long-term,” Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said.

The 26-year-old joined the “BVB” in July 2013 to make an immediate impact by providing 12 assists and 29 goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances.

“I am totally happy that my sportive future lies in Dortmund for the next few years. I feel very comfortable here, with this team and the city. The BVB became my second home,” Aubameyang said.

Borussia encounter Austrian side Wolfsburger AC in the Europa League qualification round on August 6. Nine days later, they face city rivals Monchengladbach at the first round in Bundesliga.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
