Senior Indian player wants Ajit Agarkar as bowling coach for Indian squad

A superior player of the Indian team wants former pacer Ajit Agarkar to be the bowling coach of the team till 2023 ODI World Cup. As per a report published in The Times of India, the senior player is “very keen” to have the veteran pacer as the part of management committee of the squad.  The current bowling coach of the team is a former Indian seamer Paras Mhambre.

The 44-year old is currently serving as an expert and TV commentator. In 2021, Agarkar was one of the favorites to become the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector. However, he was piped in before Chetan Sharma.

Agarkar took 349 wickets while playing for India

Agarkar represented India between 1998 and 2007. The bowler played a total of 28 Tests, 191 ODIs and four T20Is and ended up with a total tally of 349 wickets including all three formats. The right-arm bowler also represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Agarkar finished his IPL career after scalping 29 wickets in 42 matches at an average of 39.69.

A reliable source told TOI, “The senior player, who plays a vital role in decision-making in Indian cricket now, wants an experienced hand like Agarkar guiding the bowlers till the 2023 ODI World Cup. Mhambrey is a good bowling coach and can look after budding bowlers at India A, India Under-19 and at pacers the National Cricket Academy.”

Pacer Ajit Agarkar is placed third in the highest wicket-taker for India in ODIs. The pacer most notable performance with the ball in ODIs came against the mighty Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2004. Although, Men in Blue lost that contest, Agarkar bagged six wickets giving away just 42 runs.

Recognized for his skill to swing the ball both ways, both with the new and the old ball. The 44-year old was then considered to be the fast-bowling all-rounder for which India were searching for a very long time. He also hit a stunning unbeaten century at Lord’s Cricket Ground in 2002.

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
