Is it a joke? South Korean company manufactures a mask to cover your nose while you eat

Ever since the coronavirus outbreak, wearing masks has become an imperative part of our lives. Doing so is important to keep coronavirus at bay.

Meanwhile, a South Korean company has launched a mask that covers the nose and can be worn while eating or drinking. The peculiar kind of mask is called ‘Kosk’, a term coined by joining the words ‘Ko’ and ‘Mask’. Ko in Korean means nose.

A company named Atman put up Kosks for sale on an online retail portal for Rs 610 (approximately $) for a box of 10 such masks. When folded up, a kosk can be used to cover the nose while a person eats or drinks. When unfolded, the mask covers mouth as well as the nose.

A South Korean company is selling masks to keep the nose covered while a person eats.

They have created a buzz online as netizens are divided over the actual purpose of these masks. While several users mocked the company, others just couldn’t believe it. “Hahahahahaahaah is this joke (sic),” a Twitter user wrote. “Two years into this pandemic, and some still don’t understand the word ‘airborne’! I can’t even (sic),” wrote another user.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
