TV actress Sumona Chakravarti tests positive for Covid-19, shares news on social media

One after the other, a slew of television celebrities have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the third wave. The latest celeb to have contracted the deadly virus is The Kapil Sharma Show fame actress Sumona Chakravarti. She took to social media today, January 4, to let everyone know about her health development. Sumona wrote that she has moderate symptoms and that she has quarantined herself at her home.

Many celebrities from the television industry have tested positive for Covid-19 amid the Omicron scare.

Among them are Ekta Kapoor, Nakuul Mehta, his wife Jankee Parekh and son Sufi, Arjun Bijlani, his mother, Drashti Dhami, Delnaaz Irani and many others. And now, Sumona Chakravarti has also joined the list.

In her Instagram stories, Sumona wrote, “I have tested positive for Covid with moderate symptoms. Quarantined at home. Would request anyone who has come in contact with me in the last week to please get yourself tested. Thank You (sic).”

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.

The first Covid case was reported in the state in March 2020 and three Covid deaths were recorded in the month.
