Son of tobacco shop owner in Bihar district cracks UPSC for second time

Niranjan Kumar, son of Arvind Kumar, a resident of Pakribarawan block of Bihar’s Nawada district, secured the 535th rank in UPSC, making his parents proud and illuminating the name of the district.

This is not the first time that Niranjan cracked the UPSC exam. He had appeared once back in 2016 wherein he had secured the 728th rank and became an IRS officer.

At present, he is working at the post of Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax in Delhi.

Niranjan’s educational background

The meritorious student has passed his matriculation examination from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Rewar Nawada in the year 2004.

In 2006, he passed the Inter examination from Science College Patna, after which he studied at an IIT, and got a job as an assistant manager in Coal India Limited, Dhanbad.

In the meantime, he had also started preparing for UPSC. Despite getting less time to prepare alongside his job, he received success in the UPSC exam in the year 2016 and became an IRS officer.

But his dreams of becoming an IAS officer didn’t go away.

Parents proud

Niranjan’s second attempt at the UPSC Civil Services got him a much higher rank and left his mother’s eyes moist with pride.

His mother Yashoda Devi and father Arvind Kumar are very happy with him. Niranjan will soon leave Delhi to go visit them.

Father Arvind Kumar used to have a tobacco shop but the Covid-19 pandemic forced him to shut down. He has not reopened it yet due to health concerns.

Despite the constraints and struggle, Niranjan’s family made sure he could continue his education. His story shows us that no matter the circumstances, it pays to never give up on your dreams.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
