Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine may compete with the Delta+ variant, says studies

The delta variant of the corona virus has once again raised the concern of the world. Fearing this variant, corona restrictions have returned in many countries. Many reports claimed that this variant is so dangerous that even the vaccine does not affect it. That is why its fear spread all over the world, but now the news of relief in the midst of all this is that Johnson & Johnson Company has claimed that their vaccine is effective in neutralizing the delta variant of Corona. The company has said that its single dose vaccine is effective on the delta variant and other variants of Corona. The company also said that their vaccine provides durable protection against the virus.

The US-based company said in its statement that people taking its Kovid-19 vaccine have generated strong neutralizing antibodies over at least eight months against all variants, including Delta. The company said its vaccine is 85 percent effective on the virus and can also help prevent hospitalizations and deaths from the virus.

“Our eight-month study of data shows that the single-dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson produces a strong neutralizing antibody response in the body, which does not subside over time,” said Mathai Maimen, head of research at Johnson & Johnson.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
