Kolkata: Indian golfer Vani Kapoor today took one shot lead at the end of the second round of the Hero-RCGC Women’s Professional Golf Championship after starting her day at the second position.

Vani finished with a two-day total of 145 to top the leaderboard, enjoying a single stroke lead going into final round Friday as overnight leader Kiran Matharu of England slipped a place after scoring two-over 74.

Following Vani and Kiran are local girl Neha Tripathi and rookie Amandeep Drall at tied third place, with identical totals of 149.

Vani played a cautious second round after starting the day at the second position. Her round consisted of two birdies on the fourth and sixth against bogeys on the third and 10th holes.

Kiran’s round included a couple of birdies on the 13th and 17th holes against four bogeys on the first, third, 12th and 18th.

Neha’s second round of 73 consisted of four birdies on the first, fourth, eighth and 15th against five bogeys on the third, fifth, sixth, seventh and 11th.

Rookie Amandeep’s birdie-less round of three-over 75 consisted of three bogeys on the sixth, seventh and 18th.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
