Atletico made it difficult for Barcelona: Iniesta

Barcelona: Barcelona midfield maestro Andres Iniesta says he is satisfied with a 1-0 Copa del Rey win over Atletico Madrid as Diego Simeone’s men made it hard for them to play their game at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi’s late strike – a follow-up to his own missed penalty – gave the Catalans a narrow first-leg lead after a hard-fought encounter which did not see much in the way of clear-cut chances for either side Wednesday.

“It’s a good result, but it’s not over. The next 90 minutes will be very tense. We’ve done a great job in front of a very tough rival. We need to continue like this,” he was quoted as saying by goal.com after the match.

“The 1-0 makes us happy. Having a clean sheet is a step but does not guarantee anything. We’re trying to get things right at the back. It’s hard to play Atletico because they leave you very few options but I still think we played well and were superior in areas.”

The 30-year-old Iniesta went on to say that he is satisfied with his own form but is still hoping to improve before the end of the season.

“I feel good, you have to be happy. There’s always something left to think about and maybe that is to come in the rest of the season.”

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
