SRM Regals win CII-Yi Corporate Cricket Cup 2014

CII-Yi Corporate Cricket Cup 2014 closing ceremony was held on the eve of final match between SRM Regals and Aegis, which was being played at Sri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges, here on Sunday afternoon.

With the marvelous victory of SRM Regals over Aegis, the CII-Young Indians Corporate Cricket Cup 2014 fourth edition came to a memorable end.  Post-match, trophies were distributed among the winner, runner up teams and the outstanding players of the tournament.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Mr Navneet Sehgal, IAS, Principal Secretary, Information Department, and guest of honour, Ms Sunita Aron, Senior Resident Editor, HT Media, was present. In her speech she mentioned that it was a great effort from the CII-Yi by connecting such a large number of corporates by way of cricket. She showed his gratitude to the entire participating teams and audience for attending this great event. Whereas, Mr Navneet Sehgal, promised to play a friendly with winning team (SRM Regals) in coming time.

After winning the toss, Aegis decided to field first against which SRM regals set a target of 142 runs in 20 overs and in reply the team Aegis was all out for 78 runs with 2.2 overs remaining .

Sachin Jain of SRM Regals was declared as man of the match and Dhruv Saxena (SRM Regals) adjudged as Star of the match).

Vishwajeet Singh of Aegis with the overall contribution of 184 runs and 9 wickets, emerged as Man Of the Series.

Trophy to the Winning team was handed over By the chief guest, Mr Navneet Sehgal and to runner-up team by the guest of Honour, Ms Sunita Aron.

Our cherished memories of the CII-Young Indians Corporate Cricket Cup 2014 provided a great celebration and a chance to look back.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
