Achievement: India’s youngest PhD student is from Lucknow

Getting graduate or even post graduate at a tender age of 15 years can be just a dream for any girl. Fifteen-year-old Sushma Verma from Lucknow is the youngest postgraduate in the country and after getting enrolled in the PhD course at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) in Lucknow has now become the youngest to get enrolled in PhD.

University Research Entrance Test to study environmental microbiology was conducted by the University and Verma secured the seventh rank. Keeping in mind the special effort she did, the university will be providing her with the special privilege like a scholarship and hostel seat.

Talking to media on this feat Sushma stated: “I am extremely happy to achieve this feat. This is nothing short of a dream come true. Coming this far itself is a very big achievement. I am indebted to the Prof RC Sobti, vice chancellor of the university, who always supported me in achieving this endeavour.”

Sushma is a Daughter of a daily wage labourer and her mother is a housewife she though comes from a poor family but her dreams are very much rich when it comes to getting education at higher level.

Sushma also became youngest postgraduate student from the university in June and previously holds the distinction of being India’s youngest matriculate at a tender age of seven.

This 15 year old girl has also got place in the Limca Book of Records for her achievements.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
