Audi launches RS 7 Sportback, priced at Rs.1.40 crore




Mumbai: German luxury automobile manufacturer Audi on Monday launched its latest version of super sports car Audi RS 7 Sportback priced at Rs.1.40 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai and Delhi).

“The combination of a powerful four-liter V8 engine with cylinder on demand technology, quattro drive and intelligent lightweight design makes the Audi RS 7 Sportback an outstanding piece of sports equipment for our discerning customers in India,” said Joe King, head of Audi India in Mumbai.

“This beautifully superior car has delighted many customers since its launch last year and we are confident that the new Audi RS 7 Sportback will further entrench our brand as the leader in the luxury sportscar segment in India.”

According to the company, the new vehicle boasts of the Audi Matrix LED headlamps.

“The LED headlamp cluster dynamically alters the high beam on a real-time basis with the sole aim of not dazzling the oncoming traffic and the vehicle(s) in the front,” the company said in statement.

The new vehicle also sets a new weight standard with its hybrid aluminium design, making it roughly 15 percent less heavy than a comparable all-steel body.

The luxury automobile manufacturer said that its new offering is powered by a twin-turbo V8 4.0 (TFSI) engine, which displaces 3,993 cc and produces 412 kW (560 hp) with a constant 700 Nm of torque.

The Audi RS 7 Sportback consumes on an average 9.8 liters of fuel per 100 kms.


Maruti Suzuki India reports near 33% drop in August sales




New Delhi: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Sunday reported a 32.7% decline in sales at 1,06,413 units in August.

The company had sold 1,58,189 units in August last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.

Domestic sales declined by 34.3% at 97,061 units last month as against 1,47,700 units in August 2018, it added.

Sales of mini cars comprising Alto and WagonR stood at 10,123 units as compared to 35,895 units in the same month last year, down 71.8%.

Sales of compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, fell 23.9% at 54,274 units as against 71,364 cars in August last year.

Mid-sized sedan Ciaz sold 1,596 units as compared to 7,002 units earlier.

However, sales of utility vehicles, including Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga, rose 3.1% at 18,522 units as compared to 17,971 in the year-ago month, MSI said.

Exports in August were down by 10.8% at 9,352 units as against 10,489 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said.
