Revival of old housing project on cards with money received under municipal bonds

Lucknow: More than 150 allotters of housing project to be constructed by Lucknow Municipal Corporation at Aurangabad Khalsa can expect some relief as the civic body will now restart the project work from Rs 200 crore received from bonds issued by the civic body.

According to LMC officials, the civic body had decided to develop a housing colony consisting of more than 275 housing units at Aurangabad Khalsa in 2018. Municipal Corporation had set up a budget of Rs 194 crore for the completion of project. As per LMC records, civic body had to complete the project by 2020.
The decision to construct a housing colony was passed by house of LMC on April 1 2018. After approval, civic body decided to open registrations for the units and float tenders for constructing the colony simultaneously. Cost of one housing units was fixed at Rs 13 lakh by LMC. Registration fee was set up at Rs 1.25 lakh/unit by LMC.
LMC received around 75 applications within one month after opening the registrations for housing units. However, the construction work was stopped at initial stage after one of land owner where the colony was being developed decided not to sell the land as he was satisfied with the compensation offered by the civic body. The matter was resolved by LMC in December 2019 and it was decided that the construction work will resume from next financial year. However due to three months lockdown, LMC has no funds left for restarting the project.
With the project being revived by the civic body, several allootteess of the housing project expressed their happiness but urged LMC to complete the long pending project as soon as possible.
Harsh Khanna an allottee said, “We have already waited for more than two years and it looks like we will have to wait another two years before stepping a foot in our own house. I request municipal authorities to start the construction work as soon as possible. “
Jatin Mishra another alloottee said, “I asked the civic body to return my registration money which I submitted for the housing units due to delay in project. But now, I guess I have no option rather than to wait mostly for another 2-3 years for getting the possession of the unit.”
Municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi said, “Tenders will be soon floated for hiring the companies to start the construction work. Amount recived from the allootteess will be used for paying the coupon rate and bonds face value. “

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
