India found fresh cases of Covid-19

The Health Ministry said that over 35 lakh beneficiaries have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country till now. Of the 35,00,027 beneficiaries, the highest number of 4,63,793 people were vaccinated in Uttar Pradesh, followed by 3,24,973 in Rajasthan, 3,07,891 in Karnataka and 2,61,320 in Maharashtra.

The ministry said in the last 24 hours, 5,71,974 people were vaccinated across 10,809 sessions, while a total of 63,687 sessions have been conducted so far.

This includes 4,40,681 persons who were inoculated in the day as per a provisional report.

On the other hand, a health official said that Odisha’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 3,34,958 on Saturday as 108 more people tested positive for the infection. The Official has revealed, sixty-three new cases were reported in quarantine centers and 45 infections were detected during contact tracing. Three more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
