The government should have minimal intervention in education policy as it “belongs to everyone,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today, during his speech at the inaugural session of the Governors’ Conference on National Policy of Education.

“Education policy and the education system are important means of realizing the country’s aspirations. Center, state government, local communities, all are attached to the responsibility of the education system. But it is also true that the government, its interference in educational policy, its impact should be minimal. As foreign policy, defense policy belongs to the country and not to the government, just like education policy. It belongs to everyone, ”Prime Minister Modi said.

“The more teachers and parents are connected to education policy, the more connected students will be, the more its relevance and comprehensiveness will increase,” he said during the virtual conference.

A new education policy paves the way for the opening of the campus of the best international institutions in India so that young people of the common family can join them as well, he said.

“Whether there is a teacher or a great educator in the village, everyone looks at the national education policy, its educational education policy. Everyone has the feeling that I wanted to see this improvement in the previous education policy. This is a great reason to accept the national education policy, ”Prime Minister Modi said.

Entitled “ Role of NEP-2020 in Transforming Higher Education ”, the conference is hosted by the Ministry of Education and welcomes education ministers from all states, vice chancellors of universities state and other senior officials.

The NEP-2020 is the first education policy of the 21st century which was announced after 34 years of the previous national education policy in 1986, according to the Prime Minister’s office.
