Covid-19 : Yogi government bought 50 thousand antigen test kits

The Yogi government of UP is leaving no stone unturned to tackle the corona virus. Now the Yogi government has purchased 50,000 antigen test kits to further strengthen the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Amit Mohan Prasad said that these kits will be used to investigate coronavirus cases hidden in important districts including Meerut.

He said that the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state has crossed the 24 thousand mark. Prasad said that the corona cases in Meerut division were cause for concern, so a rapid trial is planned there.

Of the newly recorded cases, 170 cases belonged to the districts of Meerut Division, including Gautam Buddha Nagar (58), Ghaziabad (52), Meerut (42), Bulandshahr (17), Baghpat (9) and Hapur (8).

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi has directed the state Health and Medical Education Department to set up a dedicated laboratory for Ghaziabad district.

Districts that have more than 10 active cases, Lucknow (54), Moradabad (25), Kanpur (23), Aligarh (19), Bulandshahr (17), Varanasi (16), Bareilly (15), Mathura (15) , Gorakhpur (13), Ayodhya (13), Prayagraj (12), Unnao (12), Ballia (10) and Mau (10).

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
