Private hospitals launch home care packages for Covid-19 patients.

The Max Healthcare has launched the Max@home service a “15-day remote monitoring package” starting at Rs 333 per day. Under the plan, the hospital offers an essential medical kit (thermometer and oximeter), daily monitoring of a patient’s vital signs with a trained nurse on call twice a day, tele-reviews with a doctor every third day, case assessments and home delivery of medicines, a ET report states.

There is an advanced monitoring package also where the Max provides three visits by a nurse — on boarding and on the 7th and 14th days.

Similarly Fortis Healthcare is offering a package for 17 days at Rs 6,000, which includes four consultations by doctors including a psychologist and a dietician.

“The patients are monitored every day. There is a mobile app where they have to record their temperature, pulse which is monitored on an everyday basis.

If they want a caregiver at home, that’s chargeable. An ambulance service is always available to pick them up in case of an emergency,” Ritu Garg, zonal director at Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurgaon, was quoted as saying by the report.

Medanta is offering home care packages at Rs 4,900 including facilities like vital signs monitoring tools, daily remote monitoring by a nurse, four consultations by doctors, among others.

Some Healthcare startup like Portea and 1 Rupee Clinic are also planning to launch similar packages to cater such patients who show mild symptoms of COVID-19.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
