Mission Mangal Vs Batla House Box Office Collection



New Delhi: The two desi stars clashed on with their films on the Independence Day i.e. 15th August 2019. The films, Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal and John Abraham’s Batla house did well on their first day. However Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal was a huge hit on the first day and got him the highest opening till now. Mission Mangal earned whopping 27 crore on its release day.

Actor Akshay Kumar has once again emerged as the ‘khiladi’ of the box office. According to a report in Box Office India, the film did well in city multiplexes, through good word of mouth. The collection was also helped by the fact that Thursday was a national holiday (73rd Independence Day) and festival Raksha Bandhan.

On the other hand John Abraham film Batla House also started off well and collected 13 crore at the box office. Both the films have got average rating through critics. It was seen that controversies were trying to be created by John said he would have loved if it would have happened but there is absolutely nothing like that. He said they have been good friends and it also seen before. It is just that two films are releasing on one day. Both the superstars are happy with each other and wish them good luck before the release.

Both Mission Mangal and Batla House received average reviews from critics. The Hindustan Times review for Mission Mangal appreciated Akshay Kumar’s eager performance but was critical of the film’s treatment of its female scientists. Batla house gives a promising character but at the ending is kept for too long.


Legendary music composer Khayyam passes away




Mumbai: National award winning Bollywood music composer Mohammed Zahir Hashmi, 92, who was known only as Khayyam in his musical journey, passed away late on Monday night in a private hospital here following a brief illness, an aide said. He died after suffering from a lung ailment.

Khayyam was known for his music in Bollywood classics like “Kabhie Kabhie”, “Trishul”, “Razia Sultan”, “Noorie” and “Umrao Jaan”. He also composed music for Meena Kumari’s album, “I Write, I recite” featuring her singing her own poetic compositions.

Adorned with the National Award, the Sangeet Natak Academy Award and a Padma Bhushan, Khayyam was admitted to the Sujoy Hospital in Juhu last week for a lung infection, said his spokesperson Pritam Sharma.
Having a keen ear for music, he started his musical career from Ludhiana at the age of 17.

He was honoured with the National Award, and a Filmfare Award, besides several other honours for his melodious music in “Umrao Jaan”, starring Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah and Farooq Sheikh.

Khayyam’s non-film songs are equally loved by his fans, especially “Paon padun tore shyam”, “Brij mein laut chalo” and “Ghazab kiya tere waade pe aitbaar kiya”.
