4 killed 16 injured in a explosion in Kabul University.

KABUL- Four people were killed and 16 others sustained injuries as a blast hit the southern gate of Kabul University here on Friday, Kabul police spokesman Ferdaus Faramarz said.

“A bomb went off at 07:10 a.m. local time at the southern gate of Kabul University when a number of students gathered for examination, killing four people including a traffic police and injuring 16 others including a girl,” Said a student.

Two cars were also destroyed in the blast, the official added.

Meantime, Wahid Mayar, the spokesman for Public Health Ministry tweeted that six dead bodies and 27 injured persons had been taken to hospital following the blast.

No group has yet to claim responsibility for the blast.

Earlier, Taliban outfit has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on a police station in southern Kandahar province that left 12 dead and more than 90 others injured on Thursday.

HCL to felicitate students at finale of 3rd edition of ‘Sports for Change’

Lucknow: HCL Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of HCL Technologies, will
felicitate winners of the 3rd edition of Sports for Change. The two-day event will culminate on
November 30, 2019.

Sports for Change aims to leverage the potential and capacity of sports to foster
inclusion and bring people from all backgrounds together at the grass root level.

The Guest of Honor of event will be Mr. Om Prakash Singh, Director General of Police, Uttar
Pradesh, along with special guests Ms. Suvarna Raj, International Para Athlete and Ms. Nidhi
Pundhir, Director of HCL Foundation.

The event will also be graced by the presence of Mr. Binod Kumar Singh, Additional Director
General of Police (PAC), Uttar Pradesh, Mr Abhishek Prakash, District Magistrate, Lucknow, Mr.
Ram Kumar, Inspector General, Central Zone, Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur
Singh, Director Basic Education Government of Uttar Pradesh.

HCL Foundation reaches out to 67,500 students across 200 government schools and 60
gurukuls for providing professional exposure in sports. So far, the Foundation has given out 64
sports scholarships worth Rs. 23 Lakhs in total and 50 more scholarships worth Rs. 25 Lakhs in
total will be announced this year. These long-term sports scholarships are funded by the HCL
Power of One – voluntary employee contribution.

More than 400 children from six southern cities – Chennai, Bangalore, Madurai, Hyderabad,
Vijayawada, and Coimbatore; and from various government schools in Uttar Pradesh supported
under HCL Uday in Noida and Lucknow; HCL Samuday in Hardoi, and HCL Grant in Barabanki
and Gonda are taking part in this event.

The students who had excelled in South and North Qualifiers 2019 held earlier this year
had participated in the National Sports Meet. The students representing at the Sports for
Change event today have been identified from over 200 Government schools and 60
Gurukuls after training and coaching support.

They have qualified for the Zonal and State Level Championship and top 400 players are participating at the National Finals

The Sports for Change, 2019 will be inaugurated on 29 th November 2019 by Shri Ram Kumar –
Inspector General, Central Zone, Uttar Pradesh at the 35 th PAC Police Vahini Sports Stadium,
Mahanagar, Lucknow. The event will kick-off with a welcome dance, sports drill and torch run
and torch lighting.

During these two days, the students would be participating in sporting events like Athletics
(100m, 400m, 800m, Long Jump, High Jump), Discuss Throw, Shot Put, Badminton, Chess,
Carrom, Football, Kabaddi and Volleyball.

Sports for Change initiative is aimed at leveraging the potential and capacity of sports to foster
inclusion and bringing people from all backgrounds, irrespective of their socio-economic
backgrounds, together at the grass root level.

The key objective is to empower young leaders from disadvantaged communities and
channelizing their energy towards sports thereby making them society’s role models and create
opportunities for them. Over the years, through this initiative 6500+ students have been
successfully trained in various sports such as athletics, karate, chess, carom, badminton,
volleyball, football, kabaddi etc. Students have represented and won accolades at the District,
State and National Level Tournaments.
