The Uttar Pradesh capital welcomes the monsoon with heavy rains on Friday night bringing some respite from the humid weather.
A Few spells of light rain were received on Thursday but later on Friday night Lucknowites have experienced heavy rains which lashed the city.
Wednesday morning was humid and hot, the cloud began to appear around afternoon. Total 15 mm rainfall was recorded till midnight.
The maximum temperature which was hovering over 40 degrees Celsius till Monday dropped to 37.3 degree on Thursday while minimum temperature dropped to 26.3 degrees Celsius.
The relative humidity soared to 90% during the day following rains, drop in temperature. City needs ample rain in July to make up for the rain deficit in June. The normal date of monsoon arrival in city and state is June 15 but this year it has arrived late.
Nirbhaya convicts to be hanged on March 3 at 6 a.m.
New Delhi: The four death-row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case will now be hanged on March 3 at 6 a.m., a local court announced here on Monday.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana pronounced the order on a petition seeking issuance of fresh date for the execution of death warrants in the case pertaining to the gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman in the national capital in December 2012.
Expressing satisfaction over the latest court order, Nirbhaya’s mother said, “I’m satisfied and happy. I hope the convicts will finally be hanged on March 3,” Asha Devi told mediapersons.

On January 31, a trial court had stayed “till further order” the execution of the four convicts — Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Kumar Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar (31).
Of the four convicts, Pawan has not yet availed the remedy of either curative petition or mercy plea.
