Indian cricket fever to get on Netflix in March

Online streaming website Netflix has announced its first Indian sports documentary “Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians”, which will premiere on March 1.

The docu-series, produced by Conde Nast Entertainment, will follow the Mumbai Indians on the road through the course of the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as they sought to defend their 2017 IPL crown, read a statement.

The series documents the unseen action, both on and off the field, starting with the 2018 IPL auction, when the entire team was re-organised, and closes with the end of their IPL campaign. It charts the emotional arc of the team, including the intense pressure the team faces.

It documents highly personal journeys of the young and talented team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, owners Nita and Akash Ambani as well as the brilliance of their coach – Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene.

After almost a year, cricket finally returns to Indian soil as Team India faces world champions England in a two-month adventure that gets underway from February 05th, 2021. As India opens its doors to sporting events, Star Sports aptly sets the tone for a great season of cricket ahead.

After a historic win against Australia at the Gabba, the nation celebrates as we get one step closer to winning the World Test Championship.

Bringing the campaign to life, Boman Irani plays an avid Team India fan who is the general manager of the hotel where the England cricket team is put up. His excitement on the return of cricket to India echoes in the ballroom of the grand hotel, where he is addressing his staff. In the film, Boman Irani playfully tries to hassle the England cricketers during their stay in the competitive spirit of the game.

Speaking about the #IndiaTaiyarHai campaign on Star Sports, Boman Irani said, “Cricket is coming back to India after a long gap and I can confidently say, that together as a country, we are ready for the most-awaited India vs England series.
