Bhopal: In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl, student of a private school in Bhopal city, was allegedly raped by her classmate, police said Thursday.

According to the complaint filed by her parents, another unidentified boy was also involved in the crime.

While the police were yet to receive the girl’s medical report, a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the shocking incident.

The alleged incident took place near the girl’s house Tuesday. The case was registered Wednesday after the girl’s parents approached police.

Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kaushal said that as per the complaint, an eight-year-old classmate of the girl and another unidentified boy raped her.

“The police are interrogating the boy and his parents.

….No arrest has been made as the accused too is a minor,” he said.

Superintendent of Police (Bhopal South) Rahul Lodha has constituted an SIT headed by a woman police officer for further probe, Kaushal added.

Detailed medical report of the girl is awaited, he said.

A case of rape under IPC section 376 and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Govindpura police station.

Several filmmakers on Tuesday met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through video conferencing to discuss the film city project.

The Chief Minister shared a presentation with the guests and assured filmmakers of all help in film making in the state. He said that the proposed film city would be spread over 1,000 acres of land.

He said that Uttar Pradesh was the heart and hub of India — be it the Freedom Struggle movement, culture or mythology.

“We have Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura. There is Hastinapur which is related to Mahabharat. There is history and there is culture here,” he added.

The Chief Minister spoke about the state’s connectivity and said that the Jewar international airport project was underway and many new airports were on the anvil.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the Kumbh Mela organised by his government last year and said that the event had been appreciated worldwide.

Among those who attended the meeting included actor Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, singers Anup Jalota, Udit Narain and Kailash Kher, lyricist Manoj Muntashir, filmmakers Satish Kaushik, Subhash Ghai, David Dhawan, Priyadarshan, Saundarya Rajnikanth, Raveena Tandon and Raju Srivastava, among others.
