With another century, Virat Kohli ready to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record
Cape Town: Team India captain Virat Kohli has once again showed his tremendous batting performance against South Africa in the 3rd One Day International (ODI) by scoring 160 not-out innings because of which Men-In-Blue defeated hosts by 124 runs and took lead of 3-0 out of 6 matches’ series.
With Kohli’s this fablous batting performance South African bowlers faced the threat of his bat once again in the third ODI, Kohli scored another century and created panic in South African pavilion.
During the second one day match in Cape Town, Kohli played a smokeless innings of 160 not out. Thanks to Team India, they beat South Africa by 124 runs and took an important 3-0 lead in the series.
Before this Kohli storm was seen against Pakistan when he played the longest one-day innings. The Indian team skipper, who is famous for his aggressive sportsperson skills, has now begun to prove Sachin’s record as a dwarf.
Virat Kohli few steps away in breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record:
Basically, Sachin had scored 49 centuries in ODIs and 51 hundreds in Tests. At the same time, Kohli have secured 21 centuries in Test format and if go with cricket expert comments then they believe that Kohli will easily break the records of master blaster.
Till yet Virat Kohli has broken another record of Sourav Ganguly and now he has made 12 centuries as captain which is a record for any Indian as before this only Ganguly had secured 11 centuries in his captaincy.
On other hand, only Ponting’s name has been registered in records for making most of 22 centuries in the history, as he is the only Australian batsman with one such record.
Now, Kohli is just behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored the most centuries in ODIs. The Indian skipper has made the 34th century in one-day career with his fire-fighting batting. With Tendulkar leaving the ODI century, Kohli is now just 16 steps away.
Overall, Kohli is emerging as the biggest star for Indian cricket as with the speed Kohli’s bat is fluttering on the field; it seems that many records of Sachin are on the way to break.
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
