New Delhi: Glaucoma, the second most common cause of blindness, as per the experts. The remedy or defence for this ailment is regular eye checkups after 40 years, as per the experts. Talking about Glaucoma, it is basically a condition where the optic nerve is damaged, often due to excess eye pressure, as per the expert.As per the experts, Glaucoma is responsible for up to 12 percent of all blindness in India.The families in which diabetes or glaucoma has been in family history, people should rigorously go for regular and complete eye checkups, as per the experts.As per the reports, worldwide 4.5 million people suffer from blindness due to glaucoma, as per the World Glaucoma Association (WGA).According to the reports, this figure is expected to reach 11.2 million by 2020.As per the reports, March 12 is celebrated as World Glaucoma day. The World Glaucoma Week began on March 12 and will last till March 17.This year, WGA and World Glaucoma Patients Association (WGPA) decided to convert it into a week to create widespread awareness.
