PYSSUM: An organization dedicated to special children

Lucknow: PYSSUM is a society which is dedicated for the benefit of children with special needs. It began its activities on 24th July 2005, with the inauguration of Pyssum Day Care Centre, workshops and training programs running for the welfare of the mentally retarded kids. PYSSUM (Paramahansa Yogananda Society for Special Unfolding and Moulding), started its activities with the effort of few followers of Sri Sri. Paramahansa Yogananda. Pyssum acts as a family and has a single goal to work for the benefit of physical, mental and spiritual well being. It organizes indoor and outdoor activities related to special children. It is also involved in organizing awareness programs and various cultural activities for the benefit of the children. It mainly focuses on vocational training and skill orientation to make the kids more independent. In future, it is also planning to start its Vocational Centres for mentally retarded.Pyssum also facilitates practical training program for teachers and parents of special children. It is also involved in organizing several events for such kids.Every year Pyssum angels celebrate Dussehra and participate in the activities of this festival. The story behind this festival is also narrated to these children. Likewise, it also celebrates Chidlren's Day, and organizes cultural programs and drawing competition for Special kids.Pyssum angels also celebrate Christmas Eve and are involved in doing creative work on this day. Apart from this, it also facilitates free medical camps for the benefit of special children. Camp held in 2010 examined around 40 such children along with their parents. This organization is working towards the all over benefit and welfare of mentally retarded children.
